0.8.6 - Diplomacy

Welcome to the fourth post in the series. Today the updated diplomacy will be discussed, it will touch on the new chance system and the introduction of diplomatic points into the game. Trade and diplomacy will not be touched upon here, as there is a separate post about them (https://nicknameu.itch.io/tta/devlog/672280/086-trade-and-ultimatum).

The main two actions are improvement and deterioration of relations; this is what will be an important factor for other diplomatic acts. These actions spend diplomacy points; if you don’t have them, there will be no effect. Improvement/deterioration of relations is shown in a separate panel in the “improve relations” or “deteriorate relations” section; it shows the flag of the country with which the interaction is taking place, how many moves the change takes and how many moves are left.

If your relationship with another country drops to 20 or more, you will be able to declare war. The war will last either until one of the countries is completely captured, or until peace is signed. You can view all the wars in which a particular country is participating in a separate “Wars” panel. It displays the flag of the country with which the war is going on, who is the aggressor and the meaning of the war, if it is positive, then the aggressor wins, if negative, then the victory is for the defenders.

The player's chance of signing peace depends on how much territory was captured and on the strength of the countries. Moreover, if during the signing of peace most of the country’s territories are captured, then there is a chance that the country will capitulate and all the territories of the loser will go to the winner’s country.

“Enter an alliance” allows you to either create an alliance with a country, or enter an already created one. The special “Alliances” panel displays the creator of the alliance, its name and its members.

“Create an alliance”, if successful, unites two countries into one. Which sent the request and which agreed, under the leadership of the country that proposed this union. If the player accepts the AI’s proposal to create an alliance, the game will end for the player.

By offering a "Vassalization Offer" to another country, you will become its overlord. Overlords and vassals are also displayed in special panels “Suzerains” and “Vassals”, respectively.

The last diplomatic action is “Borrow money”. In case of an agreement, you borrow money from another country for the selected number of moves.
